What
is Fragile X?
Fragile X is the most common inherited cause of mental
impairment and developmental disabilities worldwide.
Fragile X affects all races and ethnic groups.
Fragile X affects approximately 1 in 2,000 boys and 1 in
4,000 girls. It is estimated that 80-90% of people with
Fragile X are not yet correctly diagnosed.
Symptoms include:
• mental impairment, ranging from learning disabilities
to mental retardation
• attention deficit and hyperactivity
• anxiety and unstable mood
• autistic-like behaviors
•
long face, large ears, flat
feet
• loose
joints
There are other symptoms as well, however these seem
to be the most common.
